Just can't believe it's been 10 years already, considering the devastation from that day still runs through us all as if it was just yesterday....

For those interested, here are some of the observances and memorials taking place here in Miami and the surrounding ares:

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

9/11 Memorial Ceremony: The town of Surfside, the Village of Bal Harbour, the town of Bay Harbor Islands, Indian Creek Village and the Miami-Dade Fire Department observe the 10th anniversary of 9/11; 5 p.m. Sunday; Surfside Community Center, 9301 Collins Ave., Surfside. Photographer Marilyn Scavo unveils her South Florida Fire Station exhibit and donates commemorative piece to firemen of Hialeah in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Granta 116: Ten Years Later Miami Launch: Through fiction, reportage, memoir, poetry and photography, the book edited by John Freeman explores how an event like 9/11 reverberates, with stories from Tunisia to Toronto. Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews Interfaith Clergy Dialogue 9/11 Observance: Sunday. 305-755-6096 or www.miamiccj.org:

Moment of silence: In the spirit of unity, all local citizens are asked to observe one minute of silence at 11 a.m.

South Florida 5K Freedom Run & PARK Festival: City of Doral, in collaboration with PARK Project, presents first annual event that commemorates the lives lost during the 9/11 attacks and solemnly observe its 10th anniversary. Run, jog or walk alongside military personnel, veterans and first responders in appreciation of their sacrifices and commitment to service; 7 a.m.-noon Saturday; J.C. United 93: A real-time account of the events on United Flight 93, one of the planes hijacked on 9/11 that crashed near Shanksville, Pa., when passengers foiled the terrorist plot.
